EXSC 365-Scientific Bases of Sport: Kinesiology

Students will demonstrate how to apply physical laws to human performance.  Included physical laws deal with: forces, linear and angular motion (including projectile motion), fluid mechanics, and tissue mechanics. The application of these physical laws to exercise technique, training, and injury will be examined.

Informal Survey
Measurements: Many different measurements can be recorded in biomechanics. In this class, you will learn how to acquire various estimates of force and motion.

Principles: You will learn how to describe motion and determine the forces that cause motion, and how various characteristics interact with each other leading to the overall effect on the body.

Calculations: Many of these descriptions require mathematics. Regarding mathematical knowledge, a simple understanding of algebra and trigonometry is all that will be required to successfully complete this course.
